Blackbutt Avocado Festival

The 2024 Blackbutt Avocado Festival will be running all day today, with activities stretching from the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road to the Memorial Hall. The fun will get under way at 8:00am. Market stalls will be operating both inside and outside the hall. There'll also be the traditional Farmers' Avo Games, which includes Avo Juggling, Avo Rolling, Avo Tossing, Avo Eating and the Avo Strongman/Strongwoman wheelbarrow race. The games get under way at 9:00am with the finals at 3:30pm. There'll also be helicopter rides available, live music and kids' activities, including a petting zoo and jumping castle. At 10:30am, woodchopping and post-ripping will begin in the showgrounds arena. The annual Avocado Festival Parade will start about 1:00pm on the Rail Trail, stretching from behind the showgrounds arena to the hall. A licensed bar will be running from 10:00am. Entry to the festival area is free and the event is designed to be family-friendly.
Relay for Life Morning Tea - Kingaroy
Birds Of A Feather Cancer Support Group will be holding morning tea in the grounds of John & Karyn Bjelke-Petersen’s property, ‘Bethany’, 218 Peterson Drive, Kingaroy, from 10:00am today. $10 entry includes a delicious morning tea and entertainment! All proceeds will go to Relay for Life - Cancer Council Queensland. Please RSVP for catering purposes by September 12 by contacting Steph on 0419-649-226 or by email. NB. There is a wet weather plan in place in case it rains!
Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster
Saturday is the main day of the five-day 2024 Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster, at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street. Artists will be onstage from 9:00am to 10:00am. The bar will be open from 10:00am to 11:00pm with meals available from 6:00pm. A day pass for Saturday is $40 (or $30 from after 3:00pm). Weekend passed for all five days are available for $60. Camping is available at the Showgrounds and fees range between $8 and $15 per night for unpowered or powered sites - but a booking for any camp site is essential because the Muster usually packs the Showgrounds to capacity. Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at their building at 5-23 Rodney Street, Proston from 9:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The Men's Shed is open every day (except Sundays) and new members are always very welcome! More details? Phone the Men's Shed on 0477-235-429
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Shades Of Country and there'll be the usual supper and novelty dances, along with a Lucky Door draw and a raffle. Goodger Farmers Market
Kingaroy Country Meats at 207 Stuart Valley Drive in Goodger will be running a Farmers Market featuring foods, arts and crafts from 8:00am to 1:00pm this morning. This market runs on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. More details? Phone Tom on 0418-744-331
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Nanango Men's Shed
The Nanango Men's Shed at the corner of Mt Stanley Road and Heathermore Lane, Nanango will be open from 8:30am to around 12:30pm today for its regular Saturday get-together. The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Kingaroy Men's Shed
The Kingaroy Men's Shed will be holding their regular Saturday morning meeting at the old Motor Pool building off Geoff Raph Drive at Kingaroy Airport from 9:00am to around noon today. The group meet every Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday morning and new members and visitors are always welcome.
Yarraman Men's Shed

The starting line is adjacent to the Roy Emerson Museum, off Bowman Road. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join.
