Major roadworks have been funded by the State and Federal governments around the South Burnett

February 1, 2021

The $24.5 million upgrade of the D’Aguilar Highway under way just outside Kingaroy is just one of several major road projects earmarked for the South Burnett.

The work currently taking place will create dedicated turning lanes at the intersections of Sommerfelds Lane and Redmans, Ushers, Edenvale South and Edenvale North roads.

Road shoulders and through lanes are also being widened.

This is the first stage of a five-stage upgrade of the D’Aguilar Highway by RoadTek being undertaken for the State Government.

It is expected to be completed by the end of June, conditions permitting.

Joint Federal and State Government funding was also announced recently for three other local projects:

  • $3.3 million for the Burnett Highway between Nanango and Goomeri for earthworks to improve roadsides, remove large hazards and install guardrails
  • $1.65 million for Wondai-Proston Road to upgrade an existing culvert where traffic is constrained to one lane to allow two-lane travel
  • $110,000 to upgrade the intersection of the D’Aguilar Highway, Burnett Highway and Drayton Street in Nanango

  1. Asian Gourmet has had no customers today (Thursday 22 April) due to the Alford St footpath closure. What can be done?

  2. Well done and thank you to the State Labor Governance to make funds available for the ongoing Works within our region along with the VERY broad Works programs across the State.

Top stuff, on display yet again, the stated “no matter where you live” and regardless of Party supporters or not, the Works Program repeatedly committed to is being delivered in Qld. With more to come if this reflects only the FIRST of FIVE Stages.

Very much interested to see what else is on the State Governance “table”, as always there is no doubt more in need of works’ attention.
