The State Government is adding 13 new electric vehicle charging stations to its “Queensland Electric Super Highway”, including a new site at Gympie.
Other new, fast-charging locations will be based at Springwood, Ipswich, North Lakes, Forest Glen, Gunalda, Gin Gin, Mt Larcom, Proserpine, Ayr, Cardwell, Innisfail and Port Douglas.
The 13 new stations boost the total number of QESH sites in Queensland to 31, including an existing site in Toowoomba.
“Motorists who may be thinking about making the switch to an electric vehicle (EV) need to have confidence that the charging infrastructure they need is easily found in regional areas, not just busy urban centres,” Transport Minister Mark Bailey said.
“The rollout of these new sites, which will be sponsored by RACQ under a new partnership with the State Government, means EV drivers are good to go and explore Queensland this summer.”
Mr Bailey said the $2.5 million investment in the 13 new charging stations was well advanced, with civil works completed at most sites.
