A 21-year-old motocross rider was flown to hospital with leg injuries after he lost control of his bike and crashed into a tree on Saturday.

The RACQ LifeFlight helicopter was called to a motocross park near Cooyar about 1:00pm.

The LifeFlight Critical Care doctor and a QAS Flight Paramedic worked alongside the local QAS crew to treat the male rider for lower limb injuries.

Due to the terrain where the incident occured, rescuers had to carry the man out on a stretcher.

He was then driven on a side-by-side UTV to the rescue helicopter.

The man was airlifted to the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.
