The $2.06 million Kilkivan Equestrian Centre will be officially opened on Saturday.

The centre was originally planned to be open on September 7 to coincide with the main day of Kilkivan Great Horse Ride, but was delayed due to an incomplete fire safety system.

It will now be officially opened at 2:45pm on Saturday by Local Government Minister Stirling Hinchliffe and Gympie Mayor Mick Curran.

The official opening will be followed by the centre’s first event: barrel racing.

This will begin at 3:00pm and run until 6:00pm.

The public are welcome to attend both events.
