A severe fire danger has been forecast for Friday for the Wide Bay / Burnett and Darling Downs / Granite Belt areas.

At 4:05pm on Thursday, the Bureau of Meteorology said the severe fire danger would continue for the rest of Thursday with hot and dry air over southern Queensland and moderate southwesterly winds.

Similar conditions would continue on Friday.

Showers and thunderstorms have been forecast for the northern Wide Bay and Burnett District on Friday. These storms have the potential to produce damaging wind gusts.

Severe fire conditions are predicted to continue in the Darling Downs and South-East Coast areas on Saturday.
