Kingaroy staff members gather around as Mick Astill cuts the 10th birthday cake

October 18, 2019

Astill’s Electrical Services gathered their Kingaroy staff together on Friday afternoon for a special celebration to mark the 10th birthday of the award-winning business.

Astill’s began in October 2009 at Mick and Amanda Astill’s home in Wondai. The same year they bought their first work van.

The business shifted into an office in Pound Street, Kingaroy, in September 2011.

Two years later – when the staff consisted of three tradesmen and three apprentices plus Mick and Amanda – the business shifted again … this time to Stolzenberg Road, Kingaroy.

The staff numbers and vehicles continued to grow.

In 2017, they opened a branch on the Sunshine Coast.

In 2018, Astill’s were a Regional Finalist in the Queensland Training Awards, and went one better in 2019, taking out the State title.

Earlier this year, Astill’s shifted into their new purpose-built offices and workshop in Kingaroy Street.

The business now has 28 workers, including seven apprentices and one trainee.

Amanda said Astill’s had decided to hold a staff lunch once a month and Friday’s get-together was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the 10th birthday.

Astill’s will also be hosting the next Kingaroy Chamber of Commerce and Industry meet’n’greet on Tuesday (October 22) from 5:15pm at their new premises.
