Kingaroy State High School’s Class of 1999 got back together recently for a 20th anniversary reunion

October 11, 2019

Some ex-students travelled hundreds of kilometres for the recent reunion of Kingaroy State High School’s graduating class of 1999.

But others – including current Kingaroy State High teacher Don Mengel – didn’t have to travel too far at all.

The idea for the reunion came from Kingaroy mum Sara Bliesner (nee Knopke), who was keen to reunite with former classmates and see how their lives had changed

The ex-students gathered at the Kingaroy Hotel-Motel to swap memories.

Almost 30 former classmates and their partners got together for the relaxed night out.

They came from as far afield as Melbourne, Bundaberg, Mackay, Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast to meet, greet and reminisce.

“It was a great night!” Sara told southburnett.com.au later.

“It was as if the last 20 years hadn’t even passed. We simply picked up where we left off.”

The reunion was organised by former KSHS student Sara Bleisner, who was accompanied by her husband Shaun on the night
Craig Campbell (Toowoomba), Matt Weller (Mooloolaba), Don Mengel (Kingaroy) and Luke Horton (Brisbane) had fun sharing memories
Emma Leu-Marshall caught up with old friends Hayley Ridley (Mackay) and Casey Tupuse (Brisbane)
Antonia and Brenden McDonnell came from Nanango for the reunion
