There was plenty of events happening in Kingaroy at the weekend, but one of the happiest had to be a 40th high school reunion dinner.

About 25 people responded to the callout for the Kingaroy State High School Class of 1979 reunion, but even more – accompanied by their partners – turned up at Kingaroy RSL Club on Saturday night.

Peals of laughter could be heard coming from the private function which booked out the club’s White Room.

This is the third reunion the ex-students have organised. Previous get-togethers have been held at the 10-year and 20-year anniversaries.

The reunion attracted some very long-distance returnees to Kingaroy … from Alice Springs, Melbourne, Katherine and even Jakarta!

Memorabilia on display included old photographs and copies of the Kingaroy State High School magazine Noorook.

Susie Rathbone, Toowoomba; “Chick” Hay, Kingaroy; Janice Ball, Kingaroy; Vicki Hobdell, Melbourne; Annette Nord, Kenilworth; and Ricky LeLay, Jakarta

Some of the girls pose for a photo …

… as did some of the boys!
