Carl Rackemann shares a joke with Michael Hancock at this year’s Dinner With The Captains

The “Dinner With The Captains” charity dinner at Kingaroy Town Hall in July has raised an impressive $42,155 for Relay For Life.

Organising committee spokesman Carl Rackemann told southburnett.com.au that although it wasn’t the largest amount that had been raised at the annual dinner, it was up on last year and was still “very, very good”.

The money was raised by ticket sales, raffles and a sports-themed auction.

Carl said he would like to make a big thank you to the event’s major sponsor, the Telstra shop in Kingaroy, which had made the evening happen.

This year’s Relay For Life – a major fundraiser for Cancer Council Queensland – is being held on October 12-13 at Kingaroy Showgrounds.

Earlybird tickets are still available: $30 for adults and $15 for youths.

Cancer Council Queensland CEO Chris McMillian encouraged South Burnett residents to get involved.

“Everyone is invited to join us at Kingaroy Relay For Life and help us create a cancer-free future,” Ms McMillan said.

“Organised by passionate, local volunteers, Relay For Life is an event that will stay with you forever.

“By pledging to take part and fundraising for the cause, you’re giving much-needed hope to locals affected by cancer.”
