“soft” opening a few days earlier

The official opening of Bunnings’ new Kingaroy store will occur on June 4 with a sporting hero pencilled in to do the honours.

A Bunnings spokesperson said on Thursday more information would be released soon, however the grand opening would be followed by two weekends of activities for the local community.

The store will have a “soft opening” ahead of June 4, however no date had been locked in for this.

Bunnings have a 10-year lease on the building, which is owned by Queensland developer Nic De Luca.

The Australian Financial Review newspaper reported on Thursday that Mr De Luca has put the property on the market, however Bunnings said any sale of the building would have no effect on their operations.

Commercial real estate agents Burgess Rawson are marketing the property.

The De Luca Group reportedly purchased the 3.66ha site for $2.43 million.

The AFR reported the asking price was now $14 million.

The Bunnings Warehouse has been constructed on a portion of the block, leaving room for possible expansion.
