A proposal to build a 130ha solar farm on a light grazing property 3km east of Kingaroy is not entirely dead.

Terrain Solar, the company behind the project, is appealing a decision by the South Burnett Regional Council last month to deny the project development approval.

At Wednesday’s Council meeting, Planning and Property portfolio chair Cr Terry Fleischfresser said Council had forwarded a decision notice to Terrain Solar confirming its rejection of their proposal on November 23.

Under the Planning Act 2016, Terrain Solar had 20 business days to lodge an appeal against the Council’s decision with the Planning and Environment Court.

Cr Fleischfresser said Council had received a notice of appeal from the company on November 29.

Under Planning and Environment Court’s rules, Terrain Solar now has three months to apply for a directions order.
