An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to Brisbane in a critical condition on Friday afternoon after he was pinned under a fallen tree at Coolabunia.

The boy and his mother were flown by the RACQ LifeFlight helicopter to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.

The Sunshine Coast-based LifeFlight helicopter landed at the private property.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said the patient suffered multiple serious injuries to his head, neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis and lower limbs.

The tree, which was damaged in Thursday’s storm, reportedly fell on the boy just after 11:00am while a clean-up from the wild storms was under way.

Bystanders managed to lift the tree off the injured boy prior to the arrival of emergency services.
