The new Kingaroy Hospital moved a tiny step closer on Friday with the closure of tenders for soil testing at the hospital site.

The Darling Downs Hospital and Health Services sought proposals from companies interested in conducting sampling at a number of sites across the proposed footprint of the new hospital.

The samples would then be analysed for possible contamination and reports prepared for the DDHHS.

In September, Brisbane-based architects Conrad Gargett were appointed as the principal design consultants for the $62 million project which will be built behind the current hospital so as not to disrupt normal services during the construction period.
