South Burnett TAFE students have been invited to apply for scholarships under TAFE Queensland Scholarships program.

Scholarships will be offered to both new and existing students across Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications in the following areas: automotive, business services, electrotechnology, health services and hospitality.

Two types of scholarships are available: merit and access and equity.

Merit scholarships are designed to reward students who excel in a TAFE Queensland study area while equity scholarships can help students who for a range of reasons may not otherwise have the opportunity to study.

The scholarships payments can be used to meet any cost associated with study, ie to cover course fees, buy books and study materials, or reduce the cost of childcare, travel and living expenses.

Applications for the 2016 round close on October 31.

TAFE Queensland South West general manager Trevor Schwenke said the scholarships provided an opportunity for people to develop their skills and gain a qualification.

“During the September round, TAFE Queensland received an overwhelming number of scholarship applications from all over the State who had clearly demonstrated a commitment to their industry or study,” he said.

“We are looking forward to giving out approximately 60 more scholarships across Queensland to deserving recipients intending to study in 2016.”
