Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has hit the campaign trail running following yesterday’s surprise announcement that the State Election will be held on January 31.

Mrs Frecklington told southburnett.com.au she aimed to get out around the electorate as much as she could to talk to people.

“I’ll just be continuing what I have been doing for the past two and a half years,” she said.

She had also begun dropping off campaign signs to volunteers.

Mrs Frecklington said she learned the election date on Monday night.

She was one of only three MPs to join Premier Campbell Newman at Tuesday’s press conference to announce the election date. Also flanking the Premier were Deputy Premier and Member for Callide Jeff Seeney and Treasurer Tim Nicholls.

Mrs Frecklington said she had worked hard for the Nanango electorate but she realised there was still a lot to be done.

“I love this electorate. I love my job,” she said.

“But it’s now up to the people.”
