The Blackbutt community is rallying together to help the family of a teenage girl badly injured in a horse-riding accident on Saturday.

Jackie Beitzel, 15, was spending the school holidays with a family member near Rockhampton when the accident occurred.

Family friend Jo Wilson said Jackie fell off the horse when it suddenly bolted.

She was initially taken to Rockhampton Hospital but had now been transferred to the Royal Women’s Hospital in Brisbane.

Jo said Jackie had been placed in an induced coma.

“A tragedy happens but the bills won’t stop coming in,” Jo said.

To help Jackie’s mother Gay, an account has been opened at the Bendigo Bank Branch in Blackbutt which is now accepting deposits.

A raffle has also been organised of items donated by the local Blackbutt business community. Tickets will be sold in the main street in Blackbutt at lunchtime tomorrow (Tuesday).

A Facebook page has also been set up with more information.

Deposits can be made to: Jaquis Fund (NB. spelled this way), BSB 633-000 a/c 152378147. Deposits can also be made over the counter at the Blackbutt, Yarraman, or Nanango Bendigo Bank branches.
