The RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter flew into Kingaroy last night to airlift a woman in her 50s who had been bitten by a suspected brown snake on her property near Murgon.

The woman’s husband applied initial first aid, wrapping her leg with bandages, before driving her to hospital.

RACQ CareFlight Rescue retrieved the woman from Kingaroy Hospital and flew her to Nambour General Hospital for further treatment.

She travelled in a stable condition.

RACQ CareFlight’s medical team said people who suspect they may have been bitten by a snake should stay calm, limit movement, apply compression and immediately contact emergency services.
