Twelve coaches from the Kingaroy Junior Redbacks and two from Barambah United spent Saturday and Sunday doing  their Youth Coaching Licence.

This licence enables them to coach any team up to Under 16s.

It was a wonderful turn up for a regional area.

The course was conducted by South West Queensland Director of Coaching Richard Mitchell, better known as “Mr Magic”.

Richard Mitchell has a wealth of coaching experience. Ask any kid that plays football in South West Queensland and the chance is they have met him or have been lucky enough to have enjoyed his wonderful coaching style.

Many of the coaches who did this course have worked with Mr Magic in the past, through coaching courses, SWQ developmental teams, Zone teams, SWQ Thunder NPL and so on.

You always learn something new every time you meet the man and his course delivery is always interesting, enjoyable and to the point. You always walk away saying “wow”.

It was also great to see a bunch of kids come down on Sunday to the junior soccer fields in Kingaroy to offer themselves as guinea pigs for the coaches’  assessment.
