Police are out on force on South Burnett roads to crack down on the Fatal Five

August 14, 2013

Kingaroy Police are urging drivers to remember the “Fatal Five” after a number of offences have been detected on local roads recently.

They have reminded drivers they are out and about, enforcing road rules to ensure driver safety.

“Over recent weeks, there have been a number of offences which directly impact on your safety on the road,” a Kingaroy police spokesman said.

“Drivers continue to use handheld mobile phones while driving – a major distraction causing inattention.

“In some cases persons still fail to wear a seatbelt when in a vehicle.

“A few instances of fatigue-related driving offences have also been detected.

“Speeding and following too closely are further contributors to unnecessary crashes.”

The Fatal Five are:
1. Speeding
2. Seatbelts
3. Driving while tired
4. Drink and Drug Driving
5. Driver Inattention

Police are out and about to make sure drivers obey the road rules
