The South Burnett Local Disaster Management Group met for the last time on Friday to debrief on the recent Australia Day weekend floods.

The group consisted of representatives from the Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance Service, Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, State Emergency Services, Queensland Health, Ergon Energy and South Burnett Regional Council.

“Today was an opportunity for the group to discuss the event and how it was handled by each agency involved,” Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said.

“Each agency provided constructive feedback on how to enhance the current procedures, identified weaknesses and strengths”.

The LDMG expressed its sincere gratitude for the solid support from the South Burnett community.

“Each town, individuals and business houses pulled together to provide assistance when and where possible,” Cr Kratzmann said.

The community is now in recovery mode and a Community Recovery Committee has been created.

This committee is meeting on a regular basis and will feed information to the community via the South Burnett Regional Council’s Facebook page, website and radio.
