Energy and Water Supply Minister Mark McArdle

January 22, 2013

Energy and Water Supply Minister Mark McArdle will be visiting the South Burnett Regional Council and Toowoomba Regional Council next month to have talks about electricity and water supply issues.

The visit, on February 26-27, is part of a wider tour the Minister is planning in south-east Queensland.

Mr McArdle said he valued the opportunity to visit regional councils because it gave him further insight into the real issues being faced by regional Queenslanders in relation to his portfolio.

“I am really looking forward to meeting with local mayors and councillors to hear first-hand their ideas and concerns about energy and water supply in their areas,” Mr McArdle said.

He said providing safe, reliable and affordable energy and water supply was vital to meeting the basic needs of communities and for the future development of Queensland.

“That is why my department is developing 30-year plans for the delivery of these essential services.

“During our meetings I will encourage regional councils to contribute to the Queensland Water Sector Discussion Paper and the Energy Directions Paper, both available on the Department of Energy and Water Supply’s website“.
