New-style firearms licences were introduced in July this year

November 27, 2012

Did you know that you can now apply online for weapons licences and permits to acquire?

This means you can now complete your application, provide all your supporting documentation and pay – 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You can also change your home, postal and weapons storage address details online using the Change in Circumstances form.

To assist your application, before you apply online:

  • Ensure you are familiar with the requirements,
  • Have your supporting documentation scanned and saved to your computer,
  • Have a passport quality photo saved to your computer, and
  • Have your Visa or MasterCard (credit or debit) ready to pay for the application fee online.

Brochures explaining the process – covering topics such as eligibility requirements, supporting documentation, reasons for your application, safety course information, as well as storage facilities, weapons categories and licence types information – are available from Kingaroy police station.

Online applications are for new weapons licences and permits to acquire only.

Licence renewals will still require a personal visit to a police station.
