Celebrating their wedding anniversary at Boots’n’Bulldust … Ian and Judy Bryant, from Nanango
Nick Bleys, Proston, gives Ella Beutel a lift in the “wife or friend” carrying competition

October 1, 2012

Overcast skies may have kept some visitors away during the daytime but the 3rd annual Country Focus Boots’n’Bulldust festival came alive on Saturday evening at Nanango Showgrounds with rodeo action in the ring thrilling fans, followed by live music on stage.

Local country star Amber Goldsmith and her three-piece band Whiskey Road rocked away into the evening. They were joined on stage by another young local singer, Tori Somers, who also impressed the crowd.

The Boots’n’Bulldust Festival this year raised funds for the “Walk With Me” program, recently started in Nanango by Dean Love. The program offers free counselling to people in need.

The festival also featured a ute muster, show’n’shine  and mini ironman games with tests of strength. The wife-carrying race proved popular.

From 3:00pm, a full APRA Rodeo was held in the rodeo ring featuring bull rides, bareback, barrel racing, steer wrestling,  breakaway roping, rope and tie, team roping, and saddle bronc events.
