Construction equipment this morning completed demolishing the old brick toilet blocks located on the eastern side of Kingaroy’s Memorial Park.

South Burnett Regional Council has removed the building to make way for a new $55,000 unisex toilet facility which will be erected over the next few weeks.

The old building had three female and two male toilets blocks and had been a target for vandals over the years. Maintenance was also becoming an issue.

The new building will have four unisex toilets plus two unisex toilets with wheelchair access.

Construction will start on October 8. In the meantime, portable toilets have been erected on site.

Also earmarked for Memorial Park are a fence around the playground area, the construction of a 15m climbing wall, a rotunda and two new picnic tables.
