South Burnett teachers will be taking part in the Queensland-wide “Day of Action” tomorrow as part of a union campaign against public sector job losses.

Queensland Teachers Union Wide Bay organiser Scott Welch said teachers would be gathering at Lions Park in Kingaroy and at the Rotunda in Lamb Street, Murgon at 7:00am to enjoy breakfast and have a discussion about the State Government’s approach to enterprise bargaining and public education.

The meetings are being held outside work hours so no classes will be affected.

“They’re taking no time off work; they’re meeting in their own time and will be engaged in all their normal school activities,” Mr Welch said.

Delegates from multiple unions met by web hook-up in Brisbane in early August to plan tomorrow’s statewide Day of Action.
