BIEDO’s Grant Angels team … complete with wings and halos

September 6, 2012

The Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation says it has helped to inject $27 million in grant funding into the Inland Burnett over the past 10 years, including $2.3 million over the past six months alone.

A BIEDO spokesman said today the group’s Grant Angel Program was among the most successful in Australia, helping to fund many essential services in health, recreation, safety, infrastructure and events.

The team consists of a “grant chaser”, who researches grant options and finds the best funding matches for clients of the program and “grant angels”.

“The Grant Angels are highly skilled and professionally trained grant writers who care about what they do and will go the extra mile to ensure groups have the best chance possible for a successful application,” BIEDO CEO Linda Silburn said.

Editing, funding match searches and small group workshops are also offered by the Grant Angel program.

Organisations can take out annual community membership at a cost of $220 a year which includes an assigned “grant angel” and the writing of two free grants.

Services are also offered on a “fee for service” basis at an hourly rate of $45.

BIEDO also runs grant writing workshops anywhere in the Inland Burnett.  A minimum of 10 attendees are required and the workshops run for three to four hours. The cost is $45 a head and includes take-home information.

“Workshops are a useful tool to help local organisations write their own successful grant application,” Ms Silburn said.

BIEDO’s website and Facebook page contain grant links and other useful information.
