South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Nanango August Race Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their August Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 11:00am to around 5:00pm today. Today's races will run under COVIDSafe conditions and all guests will be required to sign in on arrival and observe proper social distancing. The race club's licensed bar, BBQ and canteen will be operating all day if you need refreshments; seating will be available undercover or outdoors on the lawn; and there'll be plenty of bookmakers and an on-course tote available in the betting ring to take your wagers. This will be a 6 race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and Nanango's Fitzroy Hotel at 12:30pm. The first race will leave the barriers around 12:50pm but gates will open at 11:00am so go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. Nanango Country Markets
CANCELLED: The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Phone the Market Co-Ordinator on 0427-631-273 during business hours. Note: Today's markets have been cancelled due to the Brisbane COVID lockdown. They will resume as normal in September.
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
CANCELLED: The popular Inverlaw Dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late tonight. This month, music will be supplied by Chattanooga and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door. PS: The dance will be following the AUSDance DPPA COVID safe plan and is compliant with Government regulations. Note: Tonight's dance was cancelled on August 4 due to unforeseen circumstances. But the monthly dance will resume as normal in September.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Karaoke Night - Yarraman
The Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman will be holding a Karaoke Night from 7:30pm until late this evening. A courtesy bus will be available for locals who'd prefer not to drive and the hotel's kitchen will be operating if you want to chow down beforehand. Everyone is welcome! More details? Robert Early - Kingaroy

Men's Shed Markets - Kilkivan
The Kilkivan Men's Shed will be holding a mini-market at Lions Park in Bligh Street, Kilkivan from 7:00am to around 11:00am this morning. Members will be running a BBQ and there'll also be fresh locally-grown foods including pumpkins and eggs and a small range of locally produced crafts on offer. These markets run every Saturday morning and everyone is welcome.
Meet & Greet - Proston
The Golden Spurs Hotel at the corner of Blake and Rodney Streets, Proston will be holding a Meet & Greet from 2:00pm to 5:00pm this afternoon so that locals and regulars can get to meet the pub's new owners John and Denise and let them know what direction they'd like the pub to take in future. There'll be free canapes for all and everyone is welcome.
Rugby League - Kingaroy
The rugby league will be at the Kingaroy Red Ants' home ground of T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street today. Junior games kick off at 8:00am with the Under 6s, followed by Under 8s, Under 10s and Under 12s. At 1:50pm, Murgon will take on Nanango in Under 14s, followed at 2:50pm by another Under 14s game between Kingaroy and Chinchilla. A Grade will be back this week (after last week's sudden cancellation of games). Nanango Stags will face Murgon at 4:00pm, and Kingaroy will play Wondai at 5:30pm.
Kilkivan Neighbourhood Watch
Kilkivan Neighbourhood Watch will be holding its monthly meeting at the QCWA Rooms in Park Street, Kilkivan at 12:00 noon today. All interested people are welcome to attend. More details? Phone Dawn on 5484-1145.
Bob Mouat - Goomeri
CANCELLED: Sunshine Coast entertainer Bob Mouat will be performing at Joe's Grand Hotel in Boonara Street, Goomeri from 7:00pm until late tonight.
