South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Winter Race Meeting
The South Burnett Race Club will be holding their annual Wondai Winter Race Meeting at the Wondai race track in Baynes Street today, and after lots of cold nights recently it's always a great day to get out in the sun and warm up. Today's trackside action will feature an on-course TAB; live telecasts of interstate races and interstate betting fluctuations; a vigorous undercover betting ring; a great BBQ and bar; the Lady Luck Cocktail Bar; a "Winter Brights" fashion theme; and a card of five races. Gates will open at 11:00am; the bar will open at 1:00pm; and the first race will leave the barriers at around 1:45pm. Everyone is welcome and admission is just $10. Reserved marquee seating is also available for a small extra charge ($5 per head or $50 for a table of 10 - phone Chris on 0499-873-269 to make a booking)
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
A dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Heart Beat and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door draw. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Kingaroy Bowls Club Bingo
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning meeting today, kicking off with a cuppa at 9:00am. Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be hosting a Byte Nite from 7:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight for Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters. Children can play a range of fun and entertaining games and pursue other amusements for free during the course of the night, as well as get a free meal and a ride home afterwards if they need one, all under the supervision of caring local volunteers. Byte Nite is an initiative of the PCYC and Murgon Business and Development Association to tackle youth crime in the district by giving youngsters something to do on a Saturday night, and anyone who'd like to volunteer to help this community-driven initiative in any way should contact Acting Sgt Rene Bond at the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889 for more information.
Queensland Winter Craft Festival - Kingaroy
The second (and final) month of the Queensland Winter Craft Festival will be running throughout July at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) from 9:00am to 1:00pm today. The Gallery is hosting exhibitions from the Tangled Threads Textile Art Group, the South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club and silk artist Cecile Arndt this month, and it will also be running a number of art workshops covering everything from rug making and silk painting to pottery and creating bags from rags. Open Mic Afternoon & Natalie Fenton At The Palace
The Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango will be holding an Open Mic Afternoon from 2:00pm to around 6:00pm today, courtesy of Seascape Studios who'll be providing the PA, frontline and drums (just BYO instruments). Luke Medcalf - Kingaroy

Community Share - Tablelands
A Community Share morning will be held at Tableland Hall at Tablelands from 8:00am (for an 8:30am start) this morning. Bring alonmg anything you'd like to share - such as surplus home-grown vegies, eggs, old newspapers etc - and pick up something you need in exchange. Everyone is welcome.
Don Costa - Kingaroy

Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
There's no junior rugby league this weekend because of the school holidays, but three senior games will be played at T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today. At 1:00pm, the South Burnett U18s side will take on Valleys in the day's opener. They'll be followed at 2:30pm with an A-grade clash between Kingaroy's Red Ants and Murgon's Mustangs, and then a second A-grade game at 4:15pm between the Wondai Wolves and Cherbourg Hornets. A bar and canteen will be running on site and spectators are very welcome.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
