Twenty organisations in the Nanango Electorate have received a total of $593,375 in funding under Round 94 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund.

Seven of the groups received the maximum payment of $35,000.

Groups funded included sporting clubs, P&Cs, scouts and the South Burnett First Aid Volunteers Inc in Murgon.

The funding will help the various groups buy equipment or improve their facilities and services.

The Gambling Community Benefit Fund provides about $53 million a year to community groups in Queensland.

Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath said applications for the next round of funding were now open.

“Grants are worth between $500 and $35,000 and applications are open to not-for-profit, community-based organisations,” she said.

“I encourage any community organisations to apply for this funding.”

Applications will close on February 28.
