Kingaroy artist Olivia Everitt – the talent behind recent art projects at the South Burnett PCYC, Gumnut Place and the Kingaroy Youth Park – has joined forces with South Burnett Women for a new art project.

Olivia is curating an all-female exhibition, ROAR, at the Kingaroy Art Gallery to coincide with International Women’s Day (March 8).

The exhibition will run from March 8 to April 10.

Olivia is calling for local artists to get involved in the project.

“We have secured sponsorship to offer participating artists a chance at over $2000 in prize money through three award categories,” Olivia said.

The three categories are:

  • South Burnett Regional Council Major Art Award – $1000
  • Peddle Thorp Highly Commended Award – $750
  • Taabinga Station Young or Emerging Artist Award – $350

Entries close on February 9.

As well as promoting local female artists, the exhibition hopes to raise funds for CTC’s Domestic Violence services which provide support to women and families affected by domestic and family violence.

“Fundraising will be done through artwork entry fees, sale of artworks and a ticketed art auction event scheduled in April,” Olivia said.
