A Requiem Mass will be held in Kingaroy on Monday for Bernadette (“Bernie”) Kemp who died last weekend after a short illness.

Bernie, 53, has been the popular and friendly face behind the front counter at Kingaroy Police Station for more than 13 years.

In August this year, Bernie was presented with a 10-Year Queensland Police Service Medal by Assistant Police Commissioner Tony Wright for her service as an Administration Officer at Kingaroy.

Relatives and friends have been invited to attend the Requiem Mass for Bernie at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Albert Street, Kingaroy, from 10:30am on Monday to be followed by a private cremation.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Cancer Council.

UPDATE December 4: St Mary’s Catholic Church was packed to over-flowing on Monday for the Requiem Mass. Police formed a guard of honour at the end of the service as the coffin was carried from the Church. The hearse was then given a police escort as it slowly made its way to Virgo Funerals Chapel at Taabinga Cemetery.
