The blackened paddock and scrub along Smith Road … firefighters protected this farming shed

September 25, 2017

Firefighters called in a large bulldozer to clear scrub in a bid to control a fire burning along Smith Road at Booie on Monday afternoon.

The fire broke out about 2:30pm and spread rapidly to farmland and a strip of remnant vegetation along the roadside.

Rural fire crews from East and South Nanango, Malar Booie and Stuart River brigades were amongst the crews which attended.

The fire was quickly extinguished but at 3:40pm, firefighters were planning to conduct a back-burning operation in the scrub to ensure the area was totally safe.

The fire created a lot of smoke in the Booie and Hodgeleigh areas.
