Toowoomba Regional Council is urging community groups within its region to apply for funding through the Community Drought Support grant program.

Funding for eligible groups has been provided by the State Government’s Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability in an arrangement with Toowoomba Regional Council.

Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio said applications must be lodged with Council by Friday, September 29.

Mayor Antonio said Community Drought Support grants up to $5000 were available for eligible community organisations or groups that were interested in using funds to support various activities promoting well-being or addressing a genuine need in an area.

Guidelines, application and acquittal forms are available on the Toowoomba Regional Council website .

Note: The South Burnett Regional Council received similar funding from the Department Of Communities in 2015 and 2016, and used it to organise a series of “Down With Drought” community dinners in areas of the region affected by the 2011 and 2013 floods and the droughts that bookended them.
