Saints kept the Tigers at bay throughout their game at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy

The South Burnett Saints chalked up their third win a row with an emphatic seven goal victory over the Toowoomba Tigers in Kingaroy on Saturday.

It was also the Saints’ third home game in a row and a good crowd turned up to watch the match.

The final score was 16.18 (114) to 9.15 (69).

The home team led at every change, and were 28 points ahead at half-time.

The Saints’ pressed home their advantage in the third quarter with six goals.

The Tigers then found a second wind and actually outpointed the Saints in the last quarter, but the South Burnett had too big a lead to be troubled.

South Burnett goals were kicked by Mitchell Francis (5), Jordan Pressnell (4), Adam Bowater (3), Jack Hourn (2), Braeden Snow and Keiran Snow.

The win moved the Saints into third position on the Darling Downs AFL ladder.

The players will be hitting the road again next Saturday, facing the South Toowoomba Bombers at Heritage Oval in Toowoomba.

The Saints’ women didn’t stop trying despite the uneven scoreline

The Saints’ women’s team were overwhelmed by the Toowoomba Tigers in their game played before the men’s match at Lyle Vidler Oval.

The final score was 31.23 (209) to 1.0 (6).

The Saints’ lone goal was kicked by Kayla Smith.

The women’s team will also be travelling next Saturday for their game against the Dalby Swans at Dalby.

Brisbane Lions’ player Shaleise Law and South Burnett Saints’ Greer Shepherd, Kayla Smith and Reanna Fenton were selected in the Darling Downs Country squad which played Toowoomba City on Saturday.

City proved too strong, defeating Country 13.4 (82) to 7.4 (46).

The game was played at Rockville Oval in Toowoomba.
