The red South Burnett Rewards flags are positioned outside businesses in several local towns

South Burnett shoppers still have just under two months to take advantage of the South Burnett Rewards “buy local” shopping campaign.

So far more than $2500 in rewards have been won by shoppers as part of the campaign.

Shops and businesses taking part can be spotted by the bright red surf flags on the footpath outside;  there are now 50 flags on show in towns across the region.

Just by swiping their Rewardle cards, 25 shoppers have won $100 vouchers for use in another participating store, introducing the winners to stores they may never have visited before.

A South Burnett Regional Council spokesperson said the Rewardle system was “super simple”.

“We encourage you grab a card at any of the stores, scan it and register. Then you can use that same card at any other participating store marked with a red flag and earn points as you spend,” the spokesperson said.

Mayor Keith Campbell said the campaign was seeing benefits for both local businesses and customers who were making a conscious choice to shop local.

“We are encouraging everyone to sign up to the South Burnett Rewards Facebook page which is regularly posting local businesses deals, reward winners and other exciting news from our local businesses,” he said.

The South Burnett Rewards campaign, organised by South Burnett Directions, has been funded and supported by Heritage Bank Nanango, Swickers Kingaroy Bacon Factory, South Burnett Regional Council, Burnett Business Centre, Ken Mills Toyota, JobMatch Employment and Bishopp Outdoor Advertising.
