Detectives investigating a violent burglary at Esk on Sunday morning have charged two men with driving offences.
It will be alleged about 5:00am, two men entered a residence on Hampton Esk Road and assaulted two men who were asleep inside. It will further be alleged the men threatened the occupants with firearms and demanded cash.
A sedan allegedly stolen from the property was observed about 8:20pm yesterday in Ipswich.
The police helicopter monitored the vehicle from Bundamba to Pine Mountain where Lowood police successfully deployed a stinger which deflated all four tyres.
The male passenger was restrained by police while the male driver ran into a rural property where he allegedly tried to steal another vehicle.
The driver then allegedly attempted to punch a police officer in a struggle before being arrested.
The 24-year-old driver, from North Booval, has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a vehicle while adversely affected, disqualified driving, serious assault police, disqualified driving and drug-related offences.
The 17-year-old passenger, from Riverview, has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
They were both scheduled to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday.
Investigations into the alleged home invasion are continuing.
