The man who has been hailed as cricket’s best-ever all-rounder, Sir Garfield Sobers will make the first public appearance of his Australian tour at Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport on Thursday.

More than 350 cricket enthusiasts are expected to attend the event to hear one of the greatest players of all time share his insights into the sport.

Sir Garfield Sobers will join former Australian Test cricketer Dean Jones on stage along with moderator, TV sports presenter Sam Squiers, for “The Longest Over” lunch panel discussion.

Sobers played for the West Indies for 20 years until he retired in 1974. He took part in 93 Test matches, scored 26 Test centuries, took 235 Test wickets and retired with a batting average of 57.78.

Proceeds from the Sir Garfield Sobers lunch will go to the It’s A Bloke Thing Foundation for prostate cancer research and education.

The event is being presented in partnership with Emirates airline.

The menu has been designed by celebrity chef  Alastair McLeod and will be accompanied by a “premium beverage package”.

Singer Brad Butcher will also perform.
