Toowoomba Regional Council will distribute a survey soon to ask residents what they think of its service delivery.

Councillors unanimously approved the idea at this week’s Ordinary Meeting.

Toowoomba Mayor Paul Antonio, who proposed the idea, said Council would undertake the first stage of a review of its service delivery in the coming months.

“We need an independent, region-wide survey to gauge community satisfaction with Council’s services,” Mayor Antonio said.

“It is timely for us to ask residents to rate our current service delivery, analyse the responses and work on strategies for improvements where required.”

Mayor Antonio said the survey would also allow the Council to make comparisons with other councils.

“While there are some differences between similar-sized councils, it will provide a yardstick for service delivery,” Mayor Antonio added.

“The Toowoomba Region covers a vast area that spans almost 13,000sq km, making it one of the largest local government areas in Queensland.

“In recent years Council has devoted a great deal of effort to refine and improve our own work structures to provide effective and cost-efficient services.

“We think it’s time for a report card on how we are going.”
