Man-of-the-match Tanu Wulf reaches out to score for Wynnum-Manly in their Intrust Super Cup game against Tweed Heads played in Kingaroy last year

March 31, 2015

Rugby League fans should make sure they mark May 30 in their diaries … that’s the day the Intrust Super Cup is coming back to the South Burnett for another afternoon of top-class footy action.

Following the success of last year’s match in Kingaroy, the focus will shift this year to Jack O’Chin Oval in Cherbourg where the Ipswich Jets will take on the Souths Logan Magpies.

At this early point of the season (Round 4), the Jets – a top 5 side in 2014 – have had three wins compared with the Magpies’ one (and one bye) but by the time Round 12 rolls around in May, the position could well have changed.

The two sides met twice last year, in Round 10 and Round 19. In the first match, the Jets were triumphant 18-10, but in the second, the Magpies won 42-40 – so a good, close game looks likely.

The big day at Cherbourg will be complemented by Round 1 of the Burnett Championship – the five-week integration of North Burnett teams into the South Burnett competition.

The Cherbourg Hornets will play Mundubbera, while the Kingaroy Red Ants will take on Monto.
