An elderly man has been airlifted to hospital by RACQ CareFlight Rescue with facial injuries after he was kicked in the face by a cow this morning.

The Toowoomba rescue helicopter was sent to Proston just before 9:00am.

The man had been milking the cow on a nearby property when he was injured.

He was treated on the scene by an ambulance crew before being transported to Proston.

The patient was then airlifted to Toowoomba Base Hospital in a stable condition.
