Jameel Sullivan opens the account for the Mustangs the last time the two sides met, in Round 1 of this year’s competition

The Murgon Mustangs have a big weekend of rugby league football planned for tomorrow at Murgon Sportsground.

It’s the first time this year that all grades will be action at home, from the juniors right through to the seniors.

In the main game, the evenly matched Mustangs and Wolves will be playing for second spot on the competition ladder.

Both have had seven wins so far this season and both are coming off losses in the last round and are sure to be fired up.

It should be a great match!

It will also be a cancer-awareness day, with players wearing pink socks and money being collected on the day for the Cancer Council.

Senior coach Mark McDonald will be “shaving for a cure” under the watchful eye of club stalwart Alicia Pidgeon, from Alicia’s Spa and Hair Worx in Murgon.

“My sister-in-law was diagnosed with cancer in February and I haven’t had a shave since then,” Mark said.

“I am trying to get the message out about cancer awareness. Get yourself checked.

“Young people think they’re bullet-proof, but I also want to get the message to their mums and dads.

“If we can reach just one person who decides to get a check up, it will be worth it.”

(If you can’t make it to the games, donations will also be accepted at the Commonwealth Bank in Murgon).
