Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Jeff Hancox - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's very own Elvis Jeff Hancox will be performing live at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
One Last Bus Trip - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Thrashers rugby union team - which wound up at the end of 2014 - will be running One Last Bus Trip for former players and fans today - a sentimental journey that will recall all those happy ruggers memories of warm sausages, crisp ales and upturned collars. Guests should meet up at the Kingaroy Hotel-Motel at the corner of Haly and Youngman Street in Kingaroy at 1:00pm before proceeding to Boogy Creek, and then the awesome Tinny hotel. Afterwards, there'll be a Xmas Pies for Beer Olympics (as there should be). Everyone is welcome!
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Rugby League - Cherbourg, Kingaroy and Wondai
The final round of fixtures for this year's local rugby league competition will be played at Cherbourg, Kingaroy and Wondai today (the finals will start on the August 25). In Cherbourg, the Hornets will play Murgon's Mustangs at Jack O'Chin Oval in U6s at 9:00am; U8s at 10:00am; U10s at 11:00am; and U12s at noon. This will be followed by an U14s match between Murgon and Nanango before the 2:00pm A-grade clash between the Hornets and Mustangs. Meanwhile, in Kingaroy, the Red Ants will play the Stags at T. J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street in U6s at 9:00am; U8s at 10:00am; U10s at 11:00am; U12s at 12:30pm; U14s at 2:15pm and U16s at 3:15pm, before the 4:30pm A-grade match. Finally, in Wondai, the Wolves will be wrapping up their season with two junior matches against Central Burnett at the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway north of the CBD: U12s at 10:10am and U14s at 11:00am. This will be followed by presentations and a BBQ at noon. Canteens will be operating at all venues and spectators are very welcome.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held on the second Saturday of every month. Men's Saturday Bowls - Yarraman
The Yarraman Bowls Club in Margaret Street, Yarraman will be holding their weekly Men's Lawn Bowls games from 9:30am this morning. New players are always welcome. More details from the club: (07) 4163-8269.
South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip
Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. South Burnett locals are also welcome to take part, and there's $40 rider and bike transfers from Kilkivan to Kingaroy available if you need help getting back home. More details? Luke Medcalf - Kingaroy
Popular South Burnett entertainer Luke Medcalf will be performing in the front bar of the Kingaroy Hotel-Motel at the corner of Haly and Youngman Streets from 8:00pm until late tonight. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4162-1677.
Auskart Racing - Nanango
Auskart Racing will be holding an away weekend at the South Burnett Kart Hire track on the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango's CBD today (and also tomorrow). Racing will start around 9:00am with practice sessions for drivers to get familiar with the track, and will be followed by qualifying sessions before lunch. In the afternoon, there'll be three or four races depending on time until dinner at 6:00pm, and then possibly more racing under lights from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Spectators are very welcome to come along and watch the action for free, and a canteen will be operating on site.
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa around 9:00am and running until noon. New members are always welcome. More details? Phone Geoff on 0439-694-000.
The Stools - Kingaroy

Reinvent Proston - Proston
A discussion on different ways to "Reinvent Proston" will be held at the QCWA Rooms in Rodney Street, Proston at 2:00pm this afternoon. All interested community members are very welcome to attend to contribute and/or discuss ideas.
