Nanango Christmas Races
The Nanango Race Club will be holding its Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Racecourse today. The fashion theme is "open". Gates and the bar will open at noon with race 1 to jump at 1:30pm. Free buses will be running to the races from Murgon, Wondai, Tingoora, Wooroolin, Memerambi, Kingaroy and Nanango. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 18s are free). There'll be free face-painting for children, raffles and musical entertainment from local singer Natalie Fenton after the last race until late. Tickets can be booked online Everyone is welcome! NB. There's no ATM on the course.
Yarraman Country Markets
- The Yarraman Country Markets will be on from 8:00am to noon this morning at Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman. The markets - which include a fruit and vege stall - are held on the second Saturday of every month. Phone Joe 0459-638-282 to book a stall.
Rockin Our Abilities Concert - Kingaroy
The Rockin Our Abilities music/drama program for people with disabilities will be presenting their end-of-year concert at Kingaroy Town Hall, in Glendon Street, this morning. Doors open at 10:30am with the concert beginning at 11:00am. The concert is free and everyone is welcome! (Rockin Our Abilities will be launching a program in Kingaroy in 2026.)
Community Christmas Party - Tablelands
- The Tableland Public Hall Association will be hosting a community Christmas Party from 5:00pm this evening at the hall at 459 Crownthorpe Road, Tablelands. Cold meat will be provided by the committee but BYO salad and dessert to share. Drinks will be available to buy. There'll be a raffle and lucky door prizes. Cost is $10 per household. Christmas Family Fun Day - Cherbourg
- A family fun day will be held at the Cherbourg Sports Complex from 10:00am to 3:00pm today, supported by the Cherbourg Council and God's Greatest Love Church. There'll be gift bags, pop corn, fair floss, jumping castles and a free lunch.
Elegant Afternoon Tea - Murgon
The 55 Million Years Ago museum and art gallery at 73 Macalister Street, Murgon, will be hosting an elegant afternoon tea from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon. Tom Curtain Concert - Kumbia
Multiple Golden Guitar winner and horseman extraordinaire Tom Curtain will be bringing his Here's To You Tour to the Kumbia Race Club's grounds in Bell Street from 5:30pm to around 8:30pm tonight (gates open at 5:00pm). The show will feature Tom, the Katherine Outback Experience, Chris Matthews, Laura Frank and Mel Gray with a mix of old favourites and new numbers from Tom's recently released album. A cash bar and food will also be available onsite, but guests should BYO chairs or picnic rugs. Tickets are $58 for adults if purchased at the gate, or $48 if purchased online.
Cent Sale & Auction - Murgon
- Looking for last-minute gifts? The Murgon RSL Sub-Branch Citizen's Auxiliary will be holding a cent sale and auction from 10:00am this morning (doors open at 9:00am) at the Welfare Drop-In Centre, 44 Stephens Street West, Murgon. - A fundraising trivia night will be held from 6:00pm tonight at Cloyna Hall to raise funds for local bullrider Flynn to represent Australia in Texas in the United States. Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam
The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards. The event is free and will be followed by a gold coin donation sausage sizzle. Everyone is welcome! NB. Check the club's Facebook page as times could change due to the weather.

South Burnett Cricket Association senior and junior games are on Christmas break this week. In the Gympie A Grade competition, Wooroolin Warriors v Gympie Colts at Lyle Vidler Oval, Kingaroy; and Murgon Crusaders will play Gympie Colts at Murgon Showgrounds. These games begin at 12:30pm.
Saturday Library Day - Maidenwell
- The volunteers from the Maidenwell QCWA will be supervising the regular weekly Saturday Library Day (featuring books loaned from Kingaroy Library) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm this afternoon. A library day is held in the Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street every Wednesday and Saturday.
