Nanango Christmas Races

The Nanango Race Club will be holding its Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Racecourse today. The fashion theme is "open". Gates and the bar will open at noon with race 1 to jump at 1:30pm. Free buses will be running to the races from Murgon, Wondai, Tingoora, Wooroolin, Memerambi, Kingaroy and Nanango. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under 18s are free). There'll be free face-painting for children, raffles and musical entertainment from local singer Natalie Fenton after the last race until late. Tickets can be booked online Everyone is welcome! NB. There's no ATM on the course.

Yarraman Country Markets

The Yarraman Country Markets will be on from 8:00am to noon this morning at Yarraman Memorial Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman. The markets - which include a fruit and vege stall - are held on the second Saturday of every month. Phone Joe 0459-638-282 to book a stall.

The Rockin Our Abilities music/drama program for people with disabilities will be presenting their end-of-year concert at Kingaroy Town Hall, in Glendon Street, this morning. Community Christmas Party - Tablelands

Multiple Golden Guitar winner and horseman extraordinaire Tom Curtain will be bringing his Here's To You Tour to the Kumbia Race Club's grounds in Bell Street from 5:30pm to around 8:30pm tonight (gates open at 5:00pm). The show will feature Tom, the Katherine Outback Experience, Chris Matthews, Laura Frank and Mel Gray with a mix of old favourites and new numbers from Tom's recently released album. Come & Try Dragon Boating - BP Dam

The Barambah Dragons dragon boat club invites people to try out the ancient Chinese sport of dragon boat racing at Bjelke-Petersen Dam from 9:00am (for a 9:30am paddle-off) on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Paddles and gear will be supplied but participants should wear closed shoes that can tolerate getting wet and bring along sunscreen, water, a towel and warm clothes for afterwards.
