Nanango Race Club will be holding its Nanango Cup Race Meeting at the Lee Park Racecourse on Saturday.

This will be the first race meeting held in the South Burnett for the new racing year, and it will feature a bumper card of eight races.

As usual, the annual Blessing Of The Jockeys ceremony will be held before the first race, and the winners of Nanango Race Club’s 2021-22 Premierships will also be announced early in the day.

All other features of the races – such as the bar, BBQ and race club canteen – will operate as usual, and undercover seating will be available as well as lawn seating.

The Fashions competition – which has a Classic Racewear theme – will be offering prizes of $500, $200 and $100 for the winners of the Men’s and Women’s categfories, and $20, $10 and $5 for children.

Racegoers can also be in the running to win one of the 20 free betting vouchers bookmakers have donated to celebrate the meeting, which is always one of the biggest of the year.

The meeting’s feature race is the $10,000 Nanango Cup, and this year it has attracted a strong field of nine contenders.

This year’s Cup will be run as trhe day’s seventh race.

Buses will be leaving Kingaroy’s Glendon Street Bus Depot at 11:15am and the Fitzroy Hotel at 11:45am.

Gates will open about 10:30am and Race 1 will leave the barriers at 12:15pm.
