Toowoomba contractors Taddio Building Group have been announced as the successful tenderer for the upgrades at Yarraman Pool.

Cr James O’Shea said he was pleased a local contractor would be delivering the works and excited the project was progressing.

He said the project included the construction of a new change room which would meet relevant Australian Standards for access for people with a disability.

“Council is excited for these works to start construction in the coming weeks,” Cr O’Shea said.

“As part of these works, the outdated sling hoist will be replaced with a new chair lift to improve access to the pool, along with a new wheelchair accessible pathway between the kiosk, change room and the pool.”

Council said the works would have minimal impact on the use of the pool during the 2021-22 summer season, which was currently expected to begin Saturday, September 18.

Construction of the new change room and the associated works was expected to start in early September and be completed by early 2022.

The $350,000 project is being funded by the State Government’s Unite and Recover program in association with the TRC.
