South Burnett police will be taking to the sporting fields again this week for the Queensland Police Service Rugby League Touch Cup.

A successful pilot program was run last year at local schools.

Local police have teamed up again with the NRL and South Burnett Rugby League again to organise weekly skill sessions at Kingaroy, Nanango and Murgon State High Schools and St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy.

The program will culminate in a gala day at T.J. O’Neill Oval in Kingaroy on March 12.

The QPSRL Touch Cup will also be run in conjunction with a “Booze You Lose” project.

Local police officers will attend the skills sessions and gala day.

The aim is to build positive relations between students, schools and police as well as share information the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
