The Benarkin State Forest camping area – and all other National Park and State Forest camping areas in Queensland – will be closed from Thursday

March 25, 2020

The State Government is closing all camping areas within Queensland National Parks, State Forests and Recreation Areas from Thursday (March 26) until further notice.

The closure is part of the State Government’s response to COVID-19 to help keep Queenslanders safe.

People who have booked a camping permit will be contacted directly about how to obtain a refund for their booking.

This move obviously affects several camping areas throughout the South Burnett, including the Bunya Mountains National Park and Benarkin State Forest.

Environment Minister Leeanne Enoch said day-use areas, tracks and trails would remain open at this stage but social distancing rules would still apply.

The closure of camping grounds does not include residential caravan parks.

Signs will be placed in high visitation areas throughout the State to keep the public informed of closures.

“The health of the community is our number one priority and minimising the spread of coronavirus is imperative.” Ms Enoch said.
