Dealer principal Mark Huston with the last new Ford Falcon which will be sold through his Kingaroy dealership

November 9, 2016

Ford Falcons have been a part of Kingaroy businessman Mark Huston’s life ever since he started work in the family dealership as an apprentice mechanic back in 1973.

At that stage, the Falcons were XAs, the third generation of Australian-made Falcons to hit the streets – and the first to be fully designed in Australia as well as being manufactured here.

By the time that Mark took over as dealer principal, the Falcons had evolved into XFs – a fourth-generation Australian Falcon.

Now Mark – along with Ford fans everywhere – is farewelling the Falcon, now up to the FG X model, the seventh (and sadly the last) generation of Aussie Falcons.

“It really is the end of an era,” he said on Wednesday.

The last new Falcon to be sold by the Huston Motors dealership arrived in Kingaroy late last week and has now been put on to the showroom floor.

It is a blue (almost Ford blue) Falcon XR6 auto with a luxury pack fitted.

“It is quite sad,” Mark said. “This really is a beautiful car.”

When this Falcon is sold that will be the last new Falcon at Huston Ford, a nameplate that the company has been selling since the first XK Falcons back in 1960.

But in the same way that Hustons Motors’ links with Fords stretch back before Falcons – to October 1935, in fact – the dealership’s future will continue on without them.

Hustons will continue to sell Fords into the future, long after this last Falcon passes into history.
