The 109th Kingaroy Show will be running on Saturday and Sunday, and organisers are hoping for fine weather and bumper crowds this year.
Last year’s Show was forced to run in a reduced format thanks to unseasonal heavy rain. But this time around the forecast looks much kinder.
This year’s Show will offer families two days of jam-packed entertainment, featuring everything from Stud Beef, Stud Dairy and Poultry competitions through to bulging pavilion displays and perennial favourites like woodchopping, post ripping and chainsaw sculpting.
There’ll be a Truck Show on Saturday and a Ute Muster on Sunday, along with displays covering everything from sheep shearing to smallgoods making, and martial arts through to whip-cracking.
Equestrians can enjoy an Australian National Saddle Horse Feature Show on Saturday or showjumping in the main ring on Sunday. And bird fanciers can browse their way through a big display of caged birds, courtesy of the Burnett Birdkeeper’s Association.
Visitors who’d like a taste of yesteryear can take advantage of free wagon rides in the grounds, or drop into the QCWA luncheon rooms for some wholesome country cooking.
As usual, there’ll also be a jaw-dropping Sideshow Alley that’s always the biggest in the region.
This year, the Show’s official opening will occur in the main ring at 11:00am on Saturday and this will be followed by the Grand Parade at around 11:30am.
There’ll also be a Giant Fireworks Show at 7:00pm on Saturday that will light up the night sky; and on Sunday, the Kingaroy Speedway will roar into life at 4:00pm and run late into the night to round things out.
Single day tickets to the 2016 Show remain inexpensive – under-12s can get in for free – and there’s also free parking available in the grounds.
